20 years ago today on January 6th 1999 we began our journey of coming to the USA – my wife Rhona and I with our 2 boys Craig and Chris aged 8 and 5 at the time. A few pictures from that day are below.
Initially on a 4 year work permit, then 5 years on a green card and now 11 years as citizens. This is home now.
Initially to Wichita, Kansas for just a year and a half, then California, San Diego (Carlsbad) for 13 years, now Temecula Valley Wine Country for 5 years already (we always had a dream of a wine country home) and also now a condo in Irvine (the southern most, coastal part of greater Los Angeles) where I just started a new position.
Initially in the corporate world (with Bowthorpe renamed Spirent) until March 31st 2002, then independent for 16 years (the longest I have done anything – including 15 years as a Vistage Chair and Speaker) and now back in the driving seat of a business again as President of Online Trading Academy at the global HQ in Irvine.
Craig is now 27 living in downtown Chicago, working in inside-sales for a consumer analytics technology company in the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) and is doing well. Chris is now 25 and about to graduate with Economics & Accounting from University of California Riverside and is busy exploring his career options. Rhona has always been a rock through all our moves and transitions, before and after coming to the USA and we will have been married 30 years next year in 2020!
What a great journey it has been together, continues to be and we are looking forward to going onwards and upwards from here.
