As you approach mastery, agility becomes a 6th sense. You know people who have it and you know people who don’t. You know when you have it and you know when you don’t. You know it when you see it and you know it when you don’t.
When recruiting, I often hear CEOs and Executives say they are looking for “well rounded” people. I challenge them with that – how many times have you seen “well rounded” people who interviewed very well fail in the job because they lack the cutting edges needed to be successful in the role. A round peg in a square hole!
Let’s be clear, while an agile leader needs a well-rounded core, there are many corner-pieces also needed – cutting edges – to be a square peg in a square hole … in three dimensions! This explains why the majority don;t have it. But there is a minority who do.
You can join the minority.
