Speaking About Agility 100 Years Later

Speaking About Agility 100 Years Later

A few years ago, one my my favorite keynotes was one I did for an Annual Convention of Dale-Carnegie, “entitled “Breaking Through to a New Future”.   Dale Carnegie was one of the fathers of the self-help movement, actually starting 100 years ago in 1915 with a book about speaking, entitled “The Art of Public Speaking”.  Followed in 1962 (the year I was born) with “The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking”.  What an honor to be on stage speaking to an audience full of such advocates of his work, comprising franchisees, associates and corporate leaders. In between those books, of course, Dale Carnegie authored maybe his two most famous books:

  • How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936)
  • How to Stop Worrying and Start Living (1948)

I have read all of these books and they really are timeless, explaining the foundations of many aspects of being an agile leader today.
